Please note that we are slowly resuming services as the country reopens. Currently we are providing HIV and STI testing services on a Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Psycho-social Counselling will continue to be available virtually, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 4:30p.m. Thursdays.
Drop In Center
The Drop in Center is open Tuesday – Saturday for community members to come by and utilize the space and be free to be themselves, there is free Wi-Fi and a computer that can be used for research or work. There are also a variety of events at the space every month that include movie and games nights, support groups, and limes.
The BFPA hosts a Community Clinic every Thursday where Dr. Worrel is available for full examinations, blood pressure and sugar checks, genealogical services, contraception, and prostate checks. HIV and STI testing is also available on this day
HIV and STI Testing
Equals provides HIV and STI counselling and testing at the Drop in Center every Wednesday and Thursday evening. Tests available are: HIV Rapid Test, HIV delayed test, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, HTLV1 & 2 and Hepatitis B &C. If you cannot make the time schedules, contact us to to check availability for a time that is suitable for you.
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a course of HIV drugs taken by HIV-negative people to reduce their risk of HIV infection. The anti-HIV drugs in PrEP stop the virus replicating in your body. If you are exposed to HIV but have been taking PrEP correctly, there will be high enough levels of the drugs to prevent you from getting HIV. Every Wednesday and Thursday evening we have our PrEP clinic. Book an appointment via the website, or contact us for more information.
Our in-house psychologist is available every Wednesday 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. Sessions are 45 minutes long and appointments must be made as the counsellor is not always available for drop ins. There is a group session for two hours on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m.
