Drop In Center

The Safe Space is a drop-in center for sexual and gender minorities and is a space where persons are free to express themselves. The Safe Space offers some amenities to its community free of cost. The amenities include; wifi, computer access, TV and kitchen amenities (fridge, microwave, stove, storage).  Please note that due to COVID-19, The Safe Space is currently closed from drop-ins, but will re-open shortly

HIV and STI Testing

The Safe Space offers free and confidential HIV and STI testing and counselling. Current tests available include: HIV rapid test, HIV delayed test, Syphilis, Ghonorrhea, chlamydia, and Hepatitis B and C. HIV rapid test results are returned in 20 minutes, while results from the other tests can take 1-3 weeks. Testing is currently available Wednesdays 4 – 7 p.m. and Thursdays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m

PrEP

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a course of HIV drugs taken by HIV-negative people to reduce their risk of HIV infection. The anti-HIV drugs in PrEP stop the virus replicating in your body. If you are exposed to HIV but have been taking PrEP correctly, there will be high enough levels of the drugs to prevent you from getting HIV. Renewal of PrEP prescriptions is currently available for through the Doctor’s Clinic. For those who wish to start PrEP, there will be a clinic every FIRST Wednesday of the month starting in November

Doctor Clinic

On select days, there will be a clinic available for persons to see a doctor. The types of services the doctor can provide include: General Checkups Consultations, HIV/STI testing, Pap Smears, PrEP refills, and Gender Affirming Care. Check out our Booking Page for the times the services are available. The consultation donation fee to see the doctor is $50, but not mandatory though payment plans are available if you still wish to contribute. Services that are available at the clinic may change from time to time as well

Psycho-social Counselling

Through a collaboration with the Barbados Family Planning Association, we are able to provide psycho-social counselling. There will be two psychologists available every Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. They are even available virtually! If you cannot make that time, feel free to contact us to see what other options are available. This counselling service is free and strictly for the LGBTQ+ community
